Does the chain in transfer box run 2 wheel drive on dodge?

No, the chain in a Dodge transfer case (or any vehicle's transfer case with a chain drive) does *not* run the 2-wheel drive. The chain is only engaged when you select 4-wheel drive (4WD) or 4-wheel low (4L). In 2-wheel drive (2WD), the transfer case is essentially disengaged from the driveshafts going to the front axle, so the chain isn't involved. Power flows directly from the transmission to the rear axle in 2WD.
