Bought a gm tbi motor it has blank plate where the fuel pump is does cam have lobe for mechanical pump?

GM TBI engines (Throttle Body Injection) did *not* use a mechanical fuel pump driven off the camshaft. They used an electric fuel pump located in the tank. The blank plate you see where a mechanical fuel pump *would* be located on other engines is normal for a TBI setup. There is no camshaft lobe for a mechanical fuel pump.
