When did cars first get speakers?

While early cars had rudimentary sound systems, the widespread adoption of speakers as we know them didn't happen until the late 1920s and 1930s. Before that, sound systems were extremely basic and often involved a horn-type speaker or even just a receiver attached directly to the chassis. The development of more sophisticated car radios and improved speaker technology made them a common feature throughout the 1930s and beyond.
