* Remove the engine undertray.
* Place a drain pan under the oil filter.
* If necessary, remove the transmission oil cooler lines from the oil filter.
* Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter.
* Clean the oil filter mating surface on the engine block.
* Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
* Screw the new oil filter onto the engine block until it is snug.
* Tighten the oil filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn.
* Reinstall the transmission oil cooler lines, if necessary.
* Reinstall the engine undertray.
3.0L and 4.2L
* If necessary, raise and support the vehicle.
* Remove the skid plate.
* Remove the oil filter module.
* Remove the oil filter element from the module.
* Clean the oil filter module and the gasket surface.
* Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the gasket surface of the module.
* Install the new oil filter element in the module.
* Install the oil filter module on the engine block.
* Tighten the oil filter module until it is snug.
* Reinstall the skid plate, if necessary.
* Lower the vehicle, if necessary.
