On a 1998 Lincoln Town Car with a 4.6L engine, the coil packs are located on top of the engine, directly on the spark plug tubes. There are two coil packs, one for each bank of cylinders (3 cylinders per pack). They're fairly prominent and easy to spot once you open the hood.
