The vacuum hose on top of a 1992 Chevy Beretta's transmission is connected to the
Transmission Vacuum Modulator. This modulator controls shift firmness and timing based on engine load and throttle position. The other end of that hose will run to a source of manifold vacuum, usually a fitting on the intake manifold. It might be a T-fitting with other vacuum lines.
Important Note: It's difficult to be absolutely certain without seeing the specific location on your Beretta's engine bay. However, the connection to the Transmission Vacuum Modulator is the consistent element. If you have trouble tracing it, a shop manual specific to your year and model Beretta will be very helpful in identifying the correct vacuum source.
