1. Locate the Interior Release Lever: This is usually located near the driver's side footwell, under the dashboard, or near the steering column. It might be a small lever, a pull-tab, or even a button. It might even be disguised as part of the under-dash paneling. Check your owner's manual for the exact location if you can't find it.
2. Pull the Release Lever: Once you've located it, pull the lever. This will release the secondary hood latch.
3. Open the Hood: Go to the front of the vehicle. There's usually a small latch or handle in the center of the grille area (between the headlights). Lift this latch, often after giving a slight upward pull. The hood should now open. You may need to slightly lift the hood while pulling the latch to disengage it.
If the hood won't open after you've pulled the interior release lever, it is possible the cable has broken or the latch is frozen/stuck. If that's the case you'll need to manually get the hood open. This requires going under the van (be careful and use jack stands) and finding the hood latch mechanism. This is tricky and should only be attempted if you are experienced working on cars or are under the supervision of someone who is.
