What direction should the thermostat be in on a 1994 Chevy Suburban 5.7?

The thermostat in a 1994 Chevy Suburban 5.7L should be installed with the spring-loaded side facing down/towards the engine block. The spring pushes the thermostat open when it reaches operating temperature. If it's installed backwards, it will prevent coolant from flowing correctly, causing overheating.
