To effectively operate in 2WD, you need to:
* Engage 2WD (Auto): The Trailblazer's 4WD system is primarily automatic. The system defaults to 2WD unless you manually select 4HI or 4LO. So, if you're not actively in 4HI or 4LO, you're in 2WD.
* Avoid using 4WD on dry pavement: Using 4WD on dry pavement can cause damage to the drivetrain. Only use 4WD on slippery surfaces like snow, ice, mud, or loose gravel.
* Shift out of 4HI or 4LO when conditions improve: Once the road surface is clear, shift the transfer case back to its default 2WD Auto position. This is typically done by moving the transfer case shifter (the knob or lever usually near the gear shift) to the 2WD position.
If your Trailblazer feels like it's stuck in 4WD, or you're having issues shifting the transfer case, you should consult a mechanic. There may be a problem with the transfer case or its controls.
