* Driver's side, front of the engine block: This is the most common location. Look near the front of the engine, on the driver's side, for a cord protruding from the engine block itself. It might be somewhat hidden behind other components.
* Driver's side, lower grille: Less common, but possible, the cord might exit through a grommet in the lower driver's side of the grille.
* Passenger side, front of the engine block: While less frequent, it's possible in some configurations.
To find it, consider these tips:
* Look for a heavy-duty cord: The block heater cord is typically thicker and more durable than other wires in the engine compartment.
* Check your owner's manual: Your owner's manual should show the location of the block heater, if equipped.
* Use a flashlight: The engine compartment can be dark, so a flashlight is very helpful.
* Feel around carefully: Once you are in the general area, gently feel for a cord coming from the engine block.
* Look under the truck: Check the front of the truck under the bumper; Sometimes the cord runs down from the engine block to a slightly lower location, or you may see the cord exiting from an area under the radiator support.
If you can't find it, it's possible your truck wasn't equipped with a factory block heater. You can check your vehicle's build sheet (if available) or the original window sticker to verify.
