1. Remove the seat and side covers. This will give you access to the stator.
2. Locate the stator. The stator is located on the left side of the engine, behind the primary cover.
3. Disconnect the stator wires. There are three wires that connect the stator to the rest of the electrical system. Disconnect these wires by unplugging them from the stator.
4. Check the stator resistance. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the stator windings. The resistance should be between 0.1 and 1 ohm. If the resistance is too low or too high, the stator is faulty and needs to be replaced.
5. Check the stator voltage. Use a voltmeter to check the voltage of the stator windings. The voltage should be between 10 and 15 volts AC. If the voltage is too low or too high, the stator is faulty and needs to be replaced.
6. If the stator is faulty, replace it. To replace the stator, remove the primary cover and stator cover. Then, remove the old stator and install the new stator. Be sure to connect the stator wires correctly.
