The thermostat on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4.7L V8 engine is located at the rear of the engine, on the passenger side. It's usually housed within the engine's water pump housing. You'll need to access it from underneath the truck. Be prepared for it to be somewhat difficult to reach and possibly require removal of some components for easier access.
