1. Gather the necessary tools and materials.
- 10mm socket
- 13mm socket
- Ratchet
-Breaker bar
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Pry bar
- Axle puller (optional)
2. Park your car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
3. Remove the lug nuts and wheels from the side of the car with the axle you're removing.
4. Block the car up off the ground high enough so that you have enough room to work.
5. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the dust cap on the wheel hub.
6. Remove the cotter pin from the castle nut on the wheel hub.
7. Use a 10mm socket and ratchet to remove the castle nut.
8. Use a pry bar to pry the brake drum off of the wheel hub.
9. Disconnect the brake line from the wheel cylinder.
10. Remove the 13mm bolts holding the differential cover in place.
11. Pry off the differential cover.
12. Remove the C-clip from the axle shaft.
13. Pull the axle shaft out of the differential.
14. Repeat steps 12-14 on the other side of the car to remove the other axle shaft.
15. Reinstall the axle shaft by following the steps in reverse order.
16. Top off the differential with gear oil.
17. Reinstall the wheels and lug nuts.
18. Lower the car off the jack stands.
