Instructions:
1. Park the Vehicle:
- Park your Lincoln Town Car on a flat surface and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
2. Locate the Serpentine Belt:
- Open the hood of your car. The serpentine belt is typically located on the front of the engine, near the top. It will wrap around several pulleys, including the crankshaft, water pump, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor.
3. Release the Belt Tension:
- Locate the belt tensioner. It is a spring-loaded pulley that helps to keep the serpentine belt taut.
- Insert the belt tensioner tool into the tensioner. This tool will help to release the tension on the belt, making it easier to remove and install.
4. Remove the Old Belt:
- While holding the tensioner tool in place, use your socket wrench to loosen the bolts holding the tensioner in place.
- Once the tensioner is loose, you can remove the old serpentine belt by sliding it off the pulleys.
5. Install the New Belt:
- Place the new serpentine belt around the pulleys, starting with the crankshaft pulley.
- Make sure that the belt is properly seated in all the pulley grooves.
6. Tighten the Belt Tensioner:
- Reinsert the belt tensioner tool into the tensioner and apply pressure to tighten the belt.
- Tighten the tensioner bolts to secure the belt in place.
7. Check the Belt Alignment:
- Once the belt is tightened, check to ensure that it is aligned properly with all the pulleys.
- If necessary, make minor adjustments to the tensioner until the belt is correctly aligned.
8. Test the Belt:
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations that may indicate a problem with the belt.
- If everything seems fine, turn off the engine and inspect the belt once again to make sure it is still properly aligned and tensioned.
9. Close the Hood:
- Close the hood of your Lincoln Town Car, and you're done!
