Who invented the first buggy car?

The Benz Patent-Motorwagen is widely considered to be the world's first automobile. It was designed and built by Karl Benz in 1885, and patented in January 1886. The Patent-Motorwagen was a three-wheeled vehicle powered by a four-stroke gasoline engine. It had a maximum speed of 10 mph, and could travel for about 10 miles on a single gallon of fuel.
