1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shorts from occurring while you are working on the heater boxes.
2. Remove the heater hoses. There are two heater hoses that connect the heater boxes to the engine. Remove the hose clamps and slide the hoses off of the connectors.
3. Remove the heater control cables. There are two heater control cables that connect the heater boxes to the dashboard. Remove the nuts that hold the cables in place and then slide the cables out of the holes.
4. Remove the heater boxes. There are four bolts that hold the heater boxes in place. Remove the bolts and then lift the heater boxes out of the vehicle.
5. Install the bypass pipes. Install the bypass pipes in the place of the heater hoses. Connect the bypass pipes to the engine using hose clamps.
6. Reconnect the battery. Start the engine and check for leaks.
Bypassing the heater boxes will allow air to flow directly from the engine to the defroster vents. This will provide heat to the car without having to use the heater boxes.
