1. Check the brake light bulbs. This is the most common cause of brake lights not working. If the bulbs are burned out, replace them with new ones.
2. Check the brake light switch. The brake light switch is located under the brake pedal. When you press the brake pedal, it activates the brake light switch, which turns on the brake lights. If the brake light switch is faulty, it will not activate the brake lights when you press the brake pedal. To check the brake light switch, disconnect the electrical connector from the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity. If there is no continuity, the switch is faulty and needs to be replaced.
3. Check the brake light wiring. If the brake light bulbs and the brake light switch are both working properly, the problem may be with the brake light wiring. Check the wiring for any damage or loose connections. If there is any damage, repair or replace the wiring.
If you are not comfortable performing these checks yourself, you can take your car to a mechanic to have them diagnosed and repaired.
