Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the upper intake plenum by removing the 10mm bolts that hold it in place.
4. Remove the throttle body by removing the 12mm bolts that hold it in place.
5. Remove the distributor cap. This will provide you more clearance and visibility.
6. Remove the coil by unplugging the wire and removing two 12mm bolts.
7. Remove all of the wiring connected to the intake manifold.
8. Remove the 14mm bolts that hold the intake manifold in place.
9. Remove the intake manifold gasket.
10. Clean the intake manifold mating surfaces.
11. Install a new intake manifold gasket.
12. Reinstall the intake manifold.
13. Tighten the intake manifold bolts in a crisscross pattern to 25 ft-lbs.
14. Reconnect all of the wiring.
15. Reinstall the distributor cap.
16. Reinstall the coil.
17. Reinstall the throttle body.
18. Reinstall the upper intake plenum.
19. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
20. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
That's it! You have now successfully removed the intake manifold from your 1989 Toyota Truck 22RE.
