1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This is to prevent any electrical shocks while you're working.
2. Remove the trim around the stereo. There are usually four screws that hold the trim in place.
3. Once the trim is removed, you'll see the stereo unit. There are four screws that hold the stereo unit in place. Remove these screws.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the stereo unit. There are usually two or three connectors.
5. Slide the stereo unit out of the dash.
6. Connect the new stereo unit to the wiring harness.
7. Slide the new stereo unit into the dash.
8. Replace the four screws that hold the stereo unit in place.
9. Replace the trim around the stereo.
10. Replace the negative battery terminal.
Here are some additional tips:
- Be careful not to drop any screws into the dash.
- If you're having trouble removing the trim, try using a pry tool.
- If you're having trouble disconnecting the wiring harness, try using a pair of tweezers.
- Make sure that the new stereo unit is properly secured before you drive the car.
