Can you charge up solar lights with electric lights?

Solar lights are designed to charge using sunlight, not electric lights. They contain photovoltaic (PV) cells that convert light energy into electrical energy. These PV cells are built to receive and absorb light from the sun's rays, which have a specific wavelength and intensity.

Electric lights generally do not emit the same type of light waves that solar panels are designed to capture and convert efficiently into electricity. Electric light sources, like incandescent bulbs or LED lights, emit a relatively narrow spectrum of light, and a large part of this light energy is in the form of heat or visible light that PV cells cannot effectively convert into electricity.

Moreover, the light intensity of most indoor electric lights is significantly lower compared to sunlight, which makes them even less suitable for charging solar lights.

For these reasons, using electric lights as a charging source for solar lights is generally not recommended and would be far less efficient compared to charging the solar lights during the daytime using sunlight.
