Park the vehicle in a level area and apply the parking brake.
Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
Locate the fuel tank. It is usually located under the rear of the vehicle.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Raise the vehicle using a jack and jack stands.
Locate the fuel lines and disconnect them. Make sure to place a rag underneath to catch any spilled fuel.
Remove the bolts holding the fuel tank in place.
Lower the fuel tank and remove it from the vehicle.
Once you have removed the fuel tank, you will be able to access the fuel sensor. The fuel sensor is usually located on the top of the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a wire connector attached to it.
To remove the fuel sensor, simply disconnect the wire connector and unscrew the sensor from the fuel tank. Be careful not to drop the fuel sensor into the fuel tank.
Once you have removed the fuel sensor, you can inspect it for damage or debris. If the fuel sensor is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
