1. Have all of your key fobs present. You'll need to program all of your key fobs at the same time, so make sure you have all of them on hand before you begin.
2. Enter your vehicle. Put your key in the ignition and press the "Start/Stop" button to lock the doors. (If your Taurus/Sable has a keypad on the driver's door, make sure all the doors are closed when you press Lock) Turn on the interior lights.
3. Press and hold the "Unlock" button on your driver's door for eight seconds. The horn will chirp twice to indicate that you are in programming mode.
4. Wait for 10 seconds. The horn will chirp once, indicating that you have entered the next stage of the programming process.
5. Hold down the "Lock" button on your key fob for three seconds. The horn will chirp to indicate that your key fob has been programmed.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each additional key fob you want to program.
7. Unlock your car door and test your new key fobs. Make sure they can lock and unlock the doors and open the trunk. If they don't work, repeat the programming steps.
Changing the battery in a key fob or keyless remote:
1. Gather the necessary materials. You will need a new CR2025 battery and a small Phillips-head screwdriver.
2. Find the battery compartment. It is usually located on the back or bottom of the key fob or keyless remote.
3. Use a small screwdriver to remove the battery compartment cover. Be careful not to lose the cover and screw(s).
4. Remove the old battery.
5. Install the new CR2025 battery into the battery compartment. Make sure the positive (+) side of the battery is facing up.
6. Replace the battery compartment cover and screw(s).
7. Test your key fob or keyless remote to make sure it is working properly.
