1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal.
2. Clean the battery terminal and cable end using a wire brush.
3. Inspect the battery terminal and cable end for any physical damage, such as cracks, breaks, or corrosion.
4. If there are no visible signs of damage, use a multimeter to test the continuity of the cable. To do this, connect the positive lead of the multimeter to the battery terminal and the negative lead to the cable end. If the multimeter displays a reading of "0" or "OL," then the cable is broken and will need to be replaced.
5. If the multimeter displays a reading other than "0" or "OL," then the cable is still intact. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
