1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood of your vehicle.
3. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually marked with a yellow or red cap and is located near the back of the engine compartment.
4. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a rag.
5. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid dipstick tube until it is fully seated.
6. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. It should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
If the transmission fluid level is low, you will need to add some transmission fluid. To do this, please follow these steps:
1. Purchase the correct type of transmission fluid for your vehicle. You can find this information in your owner's manual.
2. Open the hood of your vehicle.
3. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. It is usually marked with a red cap and is located near the top of the transmission.
4. Remove the transmission fluid fill plug and insert a funnel.
5. Pour the transmission fluid into the funnel until the fluid level reaches the "Full" mark on the dipstick.
6. Replace the transmission fluid fill plug and dipstick.
7. Start your vehicle and let it run for a few minutes.
8. Check the transmission fluid level again to make sure it is still at the "Full" mark.
If you are not comfortable adding transmission fluid yourself, you can take your vehicle to a mechanic to have it done.
