1. The thermostat on a 1982 Toyota Pickup is located on the front of the engine, just below the water pump.

2. It is a round, metal housing with a single bolt in the center.

3. The thermostat is responsible for regulating the flow of coolant through the engine, and it should be replaced if it is faulty.

To replace the thermostat, you will need the following tools:

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Socket wrench and extension

- Pliers

- New thermostat

- Gasket sealant

- Coolant

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Drain the coolant from the radiator.

3. Remove the air cleaner.

4. Remove the two bolts that hold the thermostat housing in place.

5. Pry the thermostat housing off of the engine, using a pry bar or a flat-head screwdriver.

6. Remove the thermostat from the housing.

8. Apply a thin coat of gasket sealant to the new thermostat.

9. Install the new thermostat into the housing.

10. Replace the thermostat housing and tighten the two bolts.

11. Refill the radiator with coolant.

12. Connect the negative battery terminal.

13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

14. Check for leaks.
