* Low transmission fluid. This is the most common cause of the hold light flashing. Check the transmission fluid level and add fluid if necessary.
* Faulty transmission solenoid. The transmission solenoid is responsible for shifting the gears. If it fails, the transmission can get stuck in one gear, causing the hold light to flash.
* Faulty shift linkage. The shift linkage is responsible for connecting the gearshift selector to the transmission. If it fails, the transmission may not be able to shift properly, causing the hold light to flash.
If you are not comfortable checking the transmission fluid level or inspecting the transmission solenoid and shift linkage, it is best to have your vehicle towed to a qualified mechanic.
