Put the key into the ignition and turn it clockwise to the position marked as "II". This should power up the electrical components but without starting the engine.
Locate the "CLEAR" button on the left side of the turn signal lever. Press and hold the "CLEAR" button until the trip computer display shows "-----". This usually takes around 3-4 seconds.
Once you see "-----" displayed, release the "CLEAR" button.
Press the "TRIP" button on the opposite side of the turn signal lever. You will notice that the trip computer starts counting up from 0.0 again. This indicates that the trip computer has been reset.
Turn the ignition key back to position "0" (off) and wait for a few seconds. Then, turn the key back to position "II" (on) again.
Start the engine of your Volvo 850. If the service light is still on, repeat steps 2 to 5 again until the service light turns off.
If the service light does not turn off after multiple attempts, there might be an underlying issue that needs to be diagnosed and addressed. In this case, it is recommended to take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic or automotive repair shop for further assistance.
