Nissan Leaf sales in June

Last month, Europe continued to be Nissan Leaf’s strongest market with 3.377 units sold.

Let’s see the numbers for June.

  • Europe: 3.377
  • Japan: 1.462
  • USA: 1.367
  • Canada: 492
  • Total: 6.698

Previous month (May)

  • Europe: 2.814
  • Japan: 1.765
  • USA: 1.576
  • Canada: 906
  • Total: 7.061

Best month yet (March)

  • Europe: 6.503
  • Japan: 2.997
  • USA: 1.500
  • Canada: 423
  • Total: 11.423

It’s a bit disappointing that June (end of the Q2) didn’t outperform March or even May. However, the future is promising. Not only the twin brother Nissan Sylphy is already available to order in China, during the current fiscal year (from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019), Nissan will launch the Leaf in seven new markets. They are: Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand. While Indonesia and Philippines are under consideration.

Furthermore, with the much awaited introduction of the 2019 Nissan Leaf with longer range and TMS (Thermal Management System), this electric car will finally be on sale in South America.

Anyway, it’s evident that the Nissan Leaf is selling pretty poorly in the USA. Considering that North Americans have access to the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Tesla Model 3 this is not surprising. Nissan needs to launch the longer range 2019 Nissan Leaf in the USA as soon as possible.
