1. Open the hood of your vehicle.
2. Locate the black plastic cover just behind and the back of the engine compartment near the firewall.
2. _Remove the battery cover_ by simply lifting it off the battery.
3. Underneath the battery cover you well find the battery itself, which is held in place by a metal bracket.
4. To reach, loosen and remove the wing nut that holds down the battery bracket .
5. Slide the metal battery hold down clamp forward and off the battery.
6. Now you can _disconnect the negative terminal_ first ( which is usually marked “ -“ ) to avoid any potential sparks or electrical shorts from the positive terminal.
7. You can now also disconnect the positive terminal by loosening the nut with the wrench to remove the positive cable from the battery terminal.
8. After removing both terminals, lift the battery straight up and out of the battery tray.
