How many people in the world own hybrid cars?

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), as of 2020, there were approximately 15 million hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) in use worldwide. This number has been growing steadily in recent years as more and more people become aware of the benefits of hybrid cars, such as improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

China has the largest number of hybrid vehicles in the world, with over 5 million HEVs on the road. The United States is the second-largest market, with over 4 million HEVs. Other major markets include Japan, Germany, and France.

The IEA predicts that the global stock of HEVs will continue to grow in the coming years, reaching over 30 million by 2030.
