It’s not exactly a surprise but now Renault finally confirms that its small electric car Renault City K-ZE will arrive to Europe next year under the Dacia brand.
In China where the Renault City K-ZE is already on sale, Renault delivered 2.658 units last year.
The confirmation of the Renault City K-ZE’s arrival to Europe under the Dacia brand can be seen in Renault’s fiscal year 2019 presentation.

Renault City K-ZE arrives in 2021 to Europe under Dacia brand
Currently with a 26,8 kWh battery, the K-ZE sold in China only weighs 921 kg. However, some adjustments might be required for it to be considered safe and be sold in Europe. Therefore weight could increase for the Dacia variant.
Right now based on the Renault City K-ZE and Renault Twingo (ICE version) specs it seems that the Dacia electric car will be longer while the Twingo ZE will be wider.

The Renault Twingo seems a more practical version of the cute FIAT 500 with 2 extra doors. The FIAT 500 will have its own electric version for the European market made in Italy this year. Previously the 500e was only made in Mexico for the USA market.
Anyway, both the Renault Twingo ZE this year and the new small electric car from Dacia next year seem to be well positioned to become good alternatives to the VW electric triplets.
The small electric car market is very important in Europe for car sharing fleets and for younger buyers that don’t want to buy an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) car but can’t afford to pay a lot more than 15.000 euros for an electric car.
