1. Locate the return air grill. This is usually located at the ceiling of the room where the furnace or air conditioner is located.
2. Remove the return air grill by pushing up on the release tabs or screws.
3. Locate the air filter. It is usually inside the return air grill.
4. Slide the air filter up and out of the grill.
5. Inspect the air filter for dirt and dust. If the air filter is dirty, replace it with a new one.
6. Slide the new air filter back into the grill.
7. Replace the return air grill.
Furnace/air handler filter
1. Locate the furnace or air handler. This is usually located in the basement, attic, or garage.
2. Open the access panel to the furnace or air handler.
3. Locate the air filter. It is usually located inside the access panel.
4. Slide the air filter up and out of the furnace or air handler.
5. Inspect the air filter for dirt and dust. If the air filter is dirty, replace it with a new one.
6. Slide the new air filter back into the furnace or air handler.
7. Close the access panel.
