- Park the car on level ground and turn off the engine.
- Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually situated on the rear of the engine near the transmission pan.
- Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean.
- Re-insert the dipstick into the tube until it is seated properly.
- Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks indicated on the dipstick.
- If the fluid level is low, add the recommended type of fluid through the dipstick tube using a funnel.
- Re-check the fluid level until it is between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks.
- Replace the dipstick and close the dipstick tube.
