1. Park your car on level ground and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually a bright red or orange handle located near the back of the engine compartment.
3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again to check the fluid level.
4. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add some. Use a funnel to add fluid slowly, checking the level frequently. Do not overfill the transmission fluid, as this can cause damage.
5. Once the fluid level is correct, replace the dipstick and start the engine. Let the engine run for a few minutes, then check the fluid level again.
6. If the fluid level is correct, you are done. If it is still low, you may need to add more fluid or check for a leak.
