- Defective float valve
- Improper float adjustment
- Worn or damaged float needle
- Fuel line cracked or loose at carburetor/fuel tank/petcock
- Choke valve not sealing on carburetor venturi inlet
- Improper fuel tank cap - vent system not working
The carburetor may flood the engine causing gas leak if:
- Fuel level too high in the float bowl
- float hangs up due to dirt, debris, or improper adjustment
- float needle seat worn, damaged or dirty
