28th April 2020 update:
Good news, Polestar 2 is now available to lease. Find out more>
The latest electric car from premium electric performance car brand Polestar is due to arrive later this year. Polestar is a car brand from the Volvo car group.
Polestar have previously released a plug-in performance hybrid; which was the Polestar 1 model back in 2017, however the 2 is the brand’s first fully electric production vehicle. This new electric car attracted plenty of attention when it made its first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2019. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has since given Polestar a Compassionate Business Award in recognition of Polestar 2’s vegan-friendly interiors.
Pricing for this EV starts from £49,900 and you should expect to start seeing the Polestar 2 on the roads in the UK by the end of 2020.
Despite the Coronavirus pandemic Polestar 2 production started on the 24th March 2020 in China. Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, comments “We start production now under these challenging circumstances, with a strong focus on the health and safety of our people. This is a great achievement and the result of huge efforts from the staff in the factory and the team securing the supply chain. I have a huge amount of respect for the entire team – thanks to them!”

The Polestar 2 is a stylish, all-electric, 5 door fastback. It has a modern, unique look although you do get a slight Volvo feel from the car externally, which isn’t a bad thing. If you like a Volvo but require something a bit bigger and more practical for a family, we would recommend looking at the Volvo XC40 Recharge which is Volvo’s first fully electric car.
Designed for performance, it’s no surprise that Polestar 2 is capable of reaching 0 – 60 in less than 5 seconds. The car has a 78kWh battery pack, which drives 2 motors giving the car plenty of power and very appealing range… Officially 292 miles (WLTP) to a full charge to be exact. We expect the car to have a ‘real world’ range of around 265 miles.
Charging the 78kWh battery is easier than you might think. Most EV drivers charge up at home on a standard 7kW wall box charger, this will take around 11 hours for a complete charge and can be done overnight. If you need to top the EV up in a hurry it’s capable of charging at speeds of up to 150kW, this will recharge the battery in less than 30 minutes.

Digital Key recognises you through your mobile phone keeping your preferred settings for the car for things like seat position and your favourite apps. So no need for carrying keys or fobs around any more, all you need is your mobile phone.

It’s the first car in the world to have the infotainment system powered by android, this means the Polestar 2 has Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play Store all embedded into your dash!

The car comes with Vegan interior as standard! Its animal free interior gets the name WeaveTech, which was inspired by divers’ wetsuits and has been designed to differentiate itself from leather. Not forgetting the GOLD-colour seatbelts.
