1. Prepare the motorcycle. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the seat and the fuel tank.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the hose from the air cleaner assembly to air box outlet boot. Remove the air filter cover. Remove the air filter element. Remove the air cleaner case screws and remove the air cleaner case.
3. Remove the carburetor mounting bolts. There are four carburetor mounting bolts, two on each side of the carburetors. Loosen the bolts, but do not remove them completely.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines. There are two fuel lines, one on each side of the carburetors. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel line banjo bolts and remove the fuel lines.
5. Disconnect the throttle cables. There are two throttle cables, one on each side of the carburetors. Use a screwdriver to loosen the throttle cable adjuster nuts and remove the throttle cables.
6. Remove the carburetors. Carefully lift the carburetors up and off of the motorcycle. Be careful not to drop the carburetors.
7. Inspect the carburetors. Once the carburetors are removed, inspect them for damage. If any of the carburetors are damaged, they will need to be replaced.
8. Clean the carburetors. Clean the carburetors thoroughly with carburetor cleaner and compressed air. Be sure to clean all of the jets and passages.
9. Reinstall the carburetors. Once the carburetors are clean, reinstall them in the reverse order of removal. Be sure to tighten all of the bolts and screws securely.
10. Reconnect the fuel lines and throttle cables. Reconnect the fuel lines and throttle cables. Be sure to tighten the fuel line banjo bolts and throttle cable adjuster nuts securely.
11. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly in the reverse order of removal. Be sure to tighten the air cleaner case screws securely.
12. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
13. Start the motorcycle. Start the motorcycle and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the bolts and screws until the leaks stop.
14. Adjust the carburetors. Adjust the carburetors according to the factory specifications.
