How does the new thermostat go into motor?

Thermostats usually don't go into the motor. They sense the temperature at a location somewhat removed from the motor and regulate the electrical power to the compressor of an air conditioning system or to the gas valve in a furnace. These devices are usually either mounted on a wall or integrated into the cooling or heating system.
