Say hello to the near-production ready Volkswagen ID.5 GTX, all set for its star turn next month at the IAA Munich Motor Show. And what a paint job it has had.
Based on the same platform as the other ID family members the ID.5 is the brand’s first foray into the all-electric Coupe SUV world, complete with chunky sport lines, big wheels, flared wheel arches. Perfect competition to the smaller all-electric Audi and Mercedes-Benz SUVs on the market.
We’ve already seen with the launch of the VW ID.4 GTX, that this version of the ID.5 is its most sporty interpretation, so for standard production models we can expect the dial to be ever so slightly toned down.
What else do we know about this show car – it comes with Volkswagen’s larger battery pack, the 77kWh and also features the same tech we’ve already seen in the ID.3 and ID.4, such as Wifi connectivity which provides over-the-air updates and Car2X technology.
This all points to a 2022 release for the production version of the Volkswagen ID.5, lets all form an orderly queue…
