The Volkswagen e-Golf was always very successful in Norway and sometimes it even surpassed the registration numbers of the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version – Volkswagen Golf. However, with the introduction of new electric cars with more range, the Volkswagen e-Golf lost its leadership.
Anyways, the leadership that was lost last year is now regained with 467 units registered in Norway last month, while the second most sold electric car, the BMW i3 had 419 units registered. The main reason behind this comeback, is the arrival of a much better 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf, improved with more range, more powerful motor, more safety features and other goodies.
If the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf isn’t stopped by strange production problems, similar to what the Renault Zoe is now facing, it won’t be easy for other electric car models to take the leadership from it. While it’s too soon for any conclusions, it seems that the Volkswagen e-Golf will also be the best selling electric car this month in Norway by a large margin.
With only two days into the month, already 74 units were registered, while the second best result is achieved by the Opel Ampera-e with only 36 units. The Volkswagen e-Golf had its sales record month in March, 2015 with 956 units registered in Norway. Can the new Volkswagen e-Golf beat this old record already this month? I wouldn’t bet against it.
