1. Make sure the engine is off and that the motorcycle is in neutral.
2. Locate the battery, which is underneath the seat. To access the battery, you must remove the seat by lifting up on the front of it and sliding it back.
3. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery by loosening the nut that holds the cable in place. Use a wrench to turn the nut counterclockwise until it comes off.
4. Disconnect the positive terminal from the battery by loosening the nut that holds the cable in place. Use a wrench to turn the nut counterclockwise until it comes off.
5. Once both terminals are disconnected, lift the battery out of the compartment.
6. To reinstall the battery, simply reverse the steps you took to remove it.
