1. Park the ATV on a level surface with the engine turned off.
2. Locate the chain tension adjustment bolts, which are located on the left side of the swingarm.
3. Loosen the locknuts on the chain tension adjustment bolts.
4. Turn the chain tension adjustment bolts counterclockwise to loosen the chain.
5. Set the chain tension so that there is approximately 10–15 mm (0.4–0.6 inches) of free play in the chain.
6. Hold the chain tension adjuster bolts in place and tighten the locknuts.
7. Recheck the chain tension and make any necessary adjustments.
