Required tools:
- Small flat-head screwdriver
- Replacement CR2032 battery
Procedure:
1. Press the small button on the back of the key fob to release the metal key.
2. Slide the key out of the key fob and set it aside.
3. Use the flat-head screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob, starting at the bottom edge.
4. Once the key fob is open, locate the small, round battery inside.
5. Use your finger or the flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the battery out of its holder.
6. Dispose of the old battery safely according to local regulations.
7. Insert the new CR2032 battery into the holder, making sure to align the positive (+) and negative (-) sides correctly.
8. Gently press down on the battery to make sure it is securely in place.
9. Snap the key fob back together by pressing the top and bottom edges together until they click into place.
10. Test the key fob by pressing the buttons and checking if the car responds as expected.
11. Insert the metal key back into the key fob and press the small button to secure it.
That's it! You have successfully replaced the battery in your 2006 Volkswagen Passat key fob.
