- Remove the air intake hose by loosening the jubilee clips and freeing it from the throttle body/air filter.
- Slacken the lower clutch retaining nut on the clutch arm
- Loosen and undo upper clutch retaining nuts with a 13mm spanner
- Release old clutch cable from lever - pull down on lever and the old clutch cable will come free
- Push forward the new clutch cable through grommet hole in bulkhead, leaving sufficient free cable for adjustment later.
- Feed new clutch cable through lever with the cable end fitting facing forwards.
- Screw the ball end of the new clutch cable onto the operating lever.
- Position the upper and lower clutch cable retaining bolt with the rubber bush, making sure the bush has engaged correctly in the retaining plate with the cable
- Ensure the cable outer and the clip are positioned correctly over the clutch operating arm.
- Adjust the new cable.
Adjusting the clutch cable
- Slacken lock nut with 13mm spanner
- Tighten adjustment nut until a slight resistance is felt when operating clutch pedal
- Press pedal down about 1 inch (25 mm) and check clutch can just be disengaged and then releases immediately upon slight lifting of the clutch pedal.
- Tighten lock nut.
- Reconnect battery (if previously disconnected).
- Refit the clutch cable and the lower fixing nut.
Check operation, adjust if necessary.
