To open the hood of a 2000 Mercedes-Benz E430, follow these steps:

1. Locate the hood release lever. It is located on the driver's side footwell, to the left of the brake pedal.

2. Pull the hood release lever. This will release the hood latch.

3. Go to the front of the car and lift the hood.

4. Prop the hood open with the support rod.
