There are two ways to activate the safety mechanism (the fuel supply can be cut off from the petrol pump):

1. By pushing the safety cut-off button on the engine control unit (ECU). This switch is usually located in the engine bay, near the throttle body or injector.

2. By pulling the inertia switch's red handle or pressing the inertia switch's red button. The inertial switch is usually located in the central tunnel, under the front seats or the centre console.
