- 74 350 SBC motor
- Motor mounts
- Transmission (if not swapping to a 700r4)
- Driveshaft
- Radiator
- Engine wiring harness
- Fuel system (fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel lines)
- Exhaust system
- Cooling system (water pump, thermostat, radiator hoses)
- Ignition system (distributor, spark plugs, spark plug wires)
- Starter
- Alternator
- Power steering pump
- AC compressor (if desired)
Procedure
1. Remove the old engine.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Drain the coolant and oil.
- Remove the driveshaft.
- Remove the transmission or torque converter.
- Remove the motor mounts.
- Lift the engine out of the truck.
2. Install the 74 350 SBC motor.
- Place the engine in the truck and secure with the motor mounts.
- Attach the transmission
- Connect the driveshaft.
3. Install the radiator.
- Mount the radiator in place and connect the radiator hoses.
4. Install the engine wiring harness.
- Locate the engine wiring harness connectors.
- Install the 700r4 harness if swapping transmissions
- Connect the wiring harness to the engine and ignition system.
5. Install the fuel system.
- Install the fuel tank and connect the fuel lines.
- Install the fuel pump.
6. Install the exhaust system.
- Install the exhaust manifolds or headers.
- Install the exhaust pipe and muffler.
7. Install the cooling system.
- Install the water pump.
- Install the thermostat and radiator hoses.
- Install coolant.
8. Install the ignition system.
- Install the distributor.
- Install the spark plugs and spark plug wires.
- Install the coil.
- Connect the ignition switch to the coil.
- Connect the battery.
9. Install the starter.
- Mount the starter in place and connect the electrical wires.
10. Install the alternator.
- Install the alternator in place and connect the electrical wires.
11. Install the power steering pump.
- Install the power steering pump in place and connect the hoses and fluid.
12. Install the AC compressor.
- If desired, remove the A/C compressor from the donor vehicle and install on your truck.
13. Test the engine.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Check the engine oil pressure and coolant temperature.
- Test drive the truck to ensure that everything is working properly.
