Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical damage from happening while you're working.
Locate the shifter cable. It is located under the car, on the driver's side. It runs from the shifter to the transmission.
Remove the old shifter cable. There are two bolts that hold the cable in place. Remove these bolts and then pull the cable out.
Install the new shifter cable. Slide the new cable into place and then replace the bolts.
Reconnect the battery.
Check the shifter. Make sure that it shifts smoothly and that the car can move in and out of park.
