1. Park the vehicle in a safe location and put it into Park (for automatic transmission) or engage the parking brake (for manual transmission). Turn off the engine and allow the vehicle to cool down if necessary.
2. Open the trunk.
3. Locate the tail light assembly by looking inside the trunk on the side where you need to replace the bulb.
4. Remove the screws or bolts that secure the tail light assembly in place, using a screwdriver or wrench. Be sure to keep these fasteners in a safe place, as you will need to reattach the tail light assembly later.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector that is attached to the tail light assembly. This can usually be done by pressing down on a small plastic tab on the connector and pulling it apart.
6. Remove the tail light assembly from the vehicle.
7. Twist the old tail light bulb counterclockwise to remove it from the tail light assembly.
8. Insert the new tail light bulb into the tail light assembly by twisting it clockwise until it is snug.
9. Reattach the tail light assembly to the vehicle and secure it with the screws or bolts that were removed in Step 4.
10. Reconnect the electrical connector to the tail light assembly.
11. Close the trunk.
12. Test the new tail light bulb by turning on the headlights and pressing on the brake pedal, confirming that the tail light is working correctly.
It's important to follow these steps carefully to ensure safe and proper installation of the new tail light bulb. Be sure to handle all electrical components with care and consult the owner's manual or a reliable auto repair resource if you have any doubts or concerns regarding this process.
