1. Park the Uno in a secure position:
- Engage the parking brake, place chock wheels and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the handbrake lever:
- Inside the car, locate the handbrake lever near the driver's seat.
3. Remove the knob:
- Pull up on the knob to release it. If the knob is stuck, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry it loose.
4. Remove the trim:
- Remove any trims or covers around the handbrake lever to expose the lever's mounting bolts.
5. Disconnect the handbrake cable:
- Underneath the car, locate the handbrake cable attached to the lever.
- Disconnect the cable by releasing the retainer clip or unscrewing the attachment bolt.
6. Remove the lever bolts:
- Inside the car, locate the bolts securing the handbrake lever.
- Remove the bolts using the appropriate wrench or socket.
7. Remove the old handbrake lever:
- Once the bolts are removed, the handbrake lever can be removed.
8. Install the new handbrake lever:
- Align the new lever with the mounting bolts and insert them.
- Hand tighten the bolts until the lever is secure.
9. Reconnect the handbrake cable:
- Underneath the car, reconnect the handbrake cable to the lever by securing it with the retainer clip or bolt.
10. Test the handbrake:
- Engage the handbrake from inside the car and ensure that it holds the car securely in place.
11. Tighten the bolts:
- Use the wrench or socket to fully tighten the lever's mounting bolts.
12. Replace trim and knob:
- Replace any trim pieces and reinstall the knob on the handbrake lever.
13. Test the handbrake again:
- Re-engage the handbrake and ensure that it works properly.
